We spent 4 nights at Casa Legado and arrived at Casa Legado on my birthday and found our bedroom filled with yellow balloons, a present and a card waiting for me. Nice start but how can they top that I asked? We asked for a suggestion for lunch and Helena, the owner, and her nephew, Lucho, walked us around the corner to a wonderful restaurant and opened the door for us. Nice I thought but what’s next. Lunch was truly superb and a review of Abasto will be written. That evening we sat in the well appointed living room with a nice fire having our complimentary beverage of choice (wine in my case) and chatting with Helena and her assistant, Juanita. What interesting lives they’ve had and what lovely people! The next day there was an elegant party planned and we were invited to join in! It was to celebrate the opening of Casa Legado, over well over 100 people showed up between 4-9pm and I think we met all of Helena’s fabulous family. Day 3 was Thanksgiving. I had asked Helena if there was a place we could go to have a Thanksgiving meal and she said she’d make it! So at 6pm the table was set for 14, a 26 lb turkey with stuffing was done to perfection. It was a real Casa Legado group effort with Juanita making the cornbread. They had even found cranberry sauce! So I thought this is it, no more surprises but on our last day Helena drove us out to her country house, which she said could be available for guests. She lit a fire when we arrived, we settled in and we didn’t want to leave. So comfy, such fabulous views out every window. Ahhh, we were in heaven. But we had to leave to finish off the day at the most crazy, most fun place we’ve been to, Andres Carne de Res. Hard to describe but it’s a local Bogota institution.and a must visit for any tourist. An amazing end to an incredible visit to Bogota. We felt like we had been adopted by a warm, loving Columbian family at Casa Legado and we didn’t want to leave. All I can say in conclusion is go before it’s discovered and booked solid. There are only 7 beautifully appointed rooms and I predict that very soon they will be filled up all the time. We were lucky to get there when at the beginning of their adventure and we will treasure our memories forever and already plotting how to get back!
